The Tel / Data Technician reports to the Tel / Data Project Manager and may work in a Service capacity, on a construction job site, or in the Pre-Fab Warehouse. This position establishes communications systems by installing, operating, and maintaining voice and data telecommunications network circuits and equipment, security systems.
Essential Functions:
- Activates remote access tools
- Complies with OSHA and company standards
- Coordinates with contractors
- Documents network by labeling and routing equipment and cables
- Establishes communications systems by installing, operating, and maintaining voice and data telecommunications network circuits and equipment
- Establishes connections and integrations
- Establishes voice and data networks by running, pulling, terminating, and splicing cables
- Identifies, corrects, and troubleshoots any problems
- Installs telecommunications equipment, routers, switches, multiplexors, cable trays, and alarm and fire-suppression systems
- Keeps supplies ready and available by inventorying stock
- Maintains a safe work environment by observing and following all safety standards and procedures
- Maintains customer rapport
- Maintains network by troubleshooting and repairing outages
- Tests network back-up procedures
- Updates documentation as required
- Places orders with Purchasing Department
- Plans network installations by studying customer orders, plans, manuals, and technical specifications
- Prepares an installation diagram
- Programs features
- Records configuration diagrams and specifications
- Verifies service by testing circuits, equipment, and alarms

Position Summary:
The Tel / Data Technician reports to the Tel / Data Project Manager and may work in a Service capacity, on a construction job site, or in the Pre-Fab Warehouse. Based on experience, the Tel / Data Technician may work alone or under the supervision of a more experienced technician. The ability to work overtime when needed is expected. The hours of this position are 7am to 3pm and may vary based on the hours of the job site as agreed upon with the general contractor. This job function is not able to work remotely as it requires manual work to be completed to meet expectations.
